Cufflink X-Ray , 2016
I created CLK + Bones for a solo art show collaboration celebrating the opening of Puma’s Art2Ink tattoo shop in Harlem. The turnout and energy made it a beautiful event and one of my strongest memories from that period of my career.
The idea began as a joke about Cufflink’s anatomy. He is a heart with arms, legs, and a personality, so I started imagining what his body would look like under an X-ray. The result gives a playful look beneath the surface while revealing something more vulnerable.
The missing eye beneath Cufflink’s bandage remains visible within his skeleton. It represents the pain we all carry at times, including the parts we cover, heal from, or learn to live with. CLK + Bones balances humor and hurt, reminding us that both can exist within the same character and the same person.
