This Is a Sign is part of my UNBECOMING series. Over the past few years, I have been archiving my work while dealing with loss, insecurity, self-love, identity shifts, and intense self-criticism. Honestly, it has been a strange way to spend my thirties, but it has also forced me to understand myself and my work more clearly.
UNBECOMING connects what I created throughout my twenties with the person and artist I am now. It is about accepting every part of the journey, including the work, choices, and versions of myself I once questioned, while creating a path for everything that comes next. I am no longer concerned with how that process looks from the outside. My focus is the work and how I choose to present it.
The piece features Prince and Cufflink standing confidently in front of a stop sign transformed into the message Never Stop. Stickers of Dead End and Omega appear on the sign, bringing different parts of my universe together within one image. Their presence connects the characters, ideas, and experiences that have followed me throughout my creative journey.
This Is a Sign is exactly what the title says. If you have been questioning yourself, slowing down, or waiting for permission, this is your reminder to keep going.
